Fish Oil May Help Heart Failure Patients

August 31st, 2008    Posted by: admin

A new study recently published shows that omega-3 fatty acids, the main component of fish oil, may actually keep heart failure patients away from the hospital.  It is already known that fish oil reduces the likelihood of coronary artery disease, but this is a definite breakthrough.  According to the study, the patients who were given the fish oil survived longer than those who took a placebo.  This is surprising in the fact that a similar study was done with statins (cholesterol lowering medication) to no avail.  It will be curious to see what further research proves about this new study.
