What is exactly Heart Failure?

Hello everyone. I have been receiving many emails asking me what Heart Failure really is, as it sounds like such a general term. I mean, what does it mean to have your heart fail? There can be so many possibilities for a definition. So I am here to tell what Heart Failure really is.

Congestive heart failure (CHF), also known as just the singular Heart Failure, is a condition in which the heart is unable to pump blood to other organs of the body. There are many reasons why this may happen. This includes narrowed arteries, myocardial infarction (heart attack), and others. (A full list can be found Here)

There are many ways to diagnose CHF. However, the most common one is when a patient, with past cardiac history reports being tired and fatiguing quickly. The patient also reports swollen legs or ankles with trouble breathing. Another symptom is weight gain as a cause of fluid being built up in the body. (This is easily treatable with Diuretics and Potassium)
